An open research project
Nature's defenders deserve better tools than spreadsheets and email.
Counting species by day, writing reports by night - the people protecting nature carry a load few tools are built for. We are serial tech entrepreneurs who have built AI products before, and we want to put that experience where it matters most. First we listen: which AI would actually help your non-profit?

~30 hrs
per week a typical grant professional loses to manual, repetitive work - portals, spreadsheets, chasing numbers.
Up to a year
of expert time to process a single camera-trap survey by hand - AI pipelines do it in days.
87%
of organizations have walked away from, delayed or downsized a grant because the process was too heavy - the median grant left on the table was $75,000.
Three places where AI could return time to nature teams
We are testing all three to learn where useful tools could make the greatest difference.
How we validate
- 1Listen. A short survey and open calls with non-profit teams worldwide. Everything except name, email and consent is optional.
- 2Measure. Not broad opinions - specific signals: which tasks feel urgent, where hours go, and which tools teams already use.
- 3Build - or don’t. Only areas with proven demand get built, with the organisations that asked for them. Findings are published openly either way.
“Which of these would you actually use - and which should we forget?”
That is the core question. It takes about five minutes to answer.
Research first.
Herr Nilsson is run by two founders who have built companies before and are done with solutionism. Before we build anything, we want proof: real workflows, real budgets, real willingness to adopt. That is what the short survey and the calls are for.
Everything we learn goes back to the community. When the research closes, we publish an open summary of what non-profits actually asked for - names removed, insight kept.
What we promise
- 01Your answers are used for research only - never sold, never spammed.
- 02If a solution emerges, interested organisations will help shape it on their terms.
- 03If the answer is “nobody wants this”, we publish that too.
